A 20 year plant has avg. amount of blooms, but leaves are sparce and light in color. What do I fert. with?

Fertilizing with a general purpose 5-10-5 fertilizer in the spring is appropriate for lilacs. It supplies a modest amount of nitrogen to help green things up without promoting rampant growth. Best wishes with your lilac!
