If you mix a little fertilizer into the planting bed prior to planting your annuals, your plants will have a ready source of nutrients to use once they are established in the bed. Yes, you can overdo, but as long as you're careful you won't burn the roots. Be sure to follow the directions on the back of the package when measuring how much to apply. The nice thing about organic fertilizers is that they are slow release. Instead of giving your plants a quick shot of food, they release small amounts of nutrients over a long period of time. I think this constant source makes for healthier plants. Now that your plants are in the ground, give them a week or two to settle in, then go ahead and feed them with your Miracle Gro. Enjoy your garden!
