I would like some recomendations for a wind break/privacy screen for the north side of our property. We have only 5 ft. between our fence and the septic field and would like to plant some bushes that wouldn't interfere with either. We are in the middle of a field and the winds can reach up to 60mph. The neighbors on the north side have no plantings in their yard (anything but Arborvites please)

I'd be really careful about planting shrubs over or near a septic system. The larger the shrub, the more extensive the root system. Two plants with relatively small root systems are azaleas and Pieris. Pieris can grow upwards of six feet tall so it might be what youre looking for. Otherwise, I'd erect a trellis or some other support system and grow vines rather than growing tall shrubs with extensive root systems. Best wishes with your garden!
