|Can knockout roses be planted in containers and will they survive winters in the upper south that way? Ours are currently in-ground and in too much shade. We'd like to move them to the sunniest part of our yard, which happens to be decking around a pool.

|The roots of containerized plants are really at risk during the cold winter months. If you can insulate the containers, or sink them into the ground during the winter, the plants will have a better chance of surviving than if they are simply sitting on your deck over the winter months. Knockout roses are hardy, but I think yours will need some winter protection if you place them in containers.
