I live in a mobile home and am going to plant several bushes in my foundation planting.I want it to be maintenance free so was going to use a mulch to keep out they tell me that a mulch is a bad idea as it encourages all kinds of destructive insects to do damage to the house.especially if the mulch is close to the house.What do you suggest to make it low maintenance and keep it from da

I'd start by covering the planting area with landscape fabric weed block, cutting X's or slits in the fabric for planting, then covering over the weed block with decorative stones or the new rubber mulch- it comes in several colors. Neither will attract insects and either will keep the area looking nice and free of weeds.
