mounds on lawn. - Knowledgebase Question

i have small mounds of dirt about the size of a golf balls all over the lawn,100's of them. there are also areas all over that are caved in around these mounds down about 2 inches. walking is terrible. worms? can i get rid of them? I live in NJ thank you

Earthworms leave quarter inch holes in lawns not 2-3" holes. The problem is more likely voles or possibly raccoons have been digging for grubs or squirrels for buried nuts. I'd fill in the holes by knowing the mounds down (use a 6' long 2X4 and scrape it over the top of your lawn). Hope you find who is responsible - I'm intrigued!
