Now is an excellent time to purchase and plant bareroot roses. Look for plump, healthy stems and avoid those that look wrinkled and dry. It may be a little early to find containerized roses in your garden center but if you do, look for reddish leaves which indicate new growth and sturdy stems. In general, roses prefer full sunshine, ample space between plants and adequate water and nutrients. There are special rose food fertilizers you can buy. Apply in amounts as recommended on the package. Enjoy your roses!
