I am looking for a bright flowering ground cover, full sun that is non toxic to dogs. I am also looking for a bright flower that will do well in primarily shade in a container.
Thank you!

Ice plant (Carpobrotus, Drosanthemum, Malephora) is a natural ground cover with trailing succulent stems; fleshy green-grey leaves; orange, yellow or red
daisy-like flowers in spring and summer.

Sun Drops (Calylophus hartwegii) is another good choice. It has many unbranched stems; low growing, yellow flowers at sunset in spring and summer. Spreads by

Gold Dalea (Dalea capitata) has a low mounding form, fine dark green leaves with
lemony scent, yellow flowers in fall.

Trailing Gazania (Gazania rigens leucolaena) is a gray creeping perennial;
daisy-like flowers, white, yellow, orange, and bronze blossoms spring and fall.

Begonias will grow in the shade, as will coleus, coral bells, impatiens and English daisies. There are lots more choices in your local garden center.
