|I have 2 ivy plants that I keep indoors in winter and outdoors in summer. They both have tiny yellow bugs on them and discard lots of sticky substance on my table. They continue to grow. Is this a disease? How do I get rid of it without destroying the plants? Thanks. Leanne

|The sticky substance is called honeydew and it is because of the insects feeding on your ivy. As they feed they exude this sticky substance. The best control is to get rid of the bugs. You can wash them off with a strong stream of water or you can spray them with insecticidal soap. As soon as the insects are gone, the sticky substance won't reappear on your table.
