I have brussel sprouts, collard greens, & broccoli I planted Dec. 1st, '09 & there are tiny bunches of gray

I can't tell from your description if aphids are congregating on the leaves or some other insect. If there are no holes in the leaves near the pests they are probably aphids. You can simply hose them off the plants every morning and every evening. They will disperse if you annoy them often enough. And, as long as you don't use pesticides, beneficals like ladybugs will show up to control the population. If you don't think they are aphids, scrape some off the leaves and into a baggie, then take them into your local garden center for identification. Good luck with your veggies!
