Moles and gophers feed on soil dwelling insects and accidently chew through plant roots as they are searching for food. If you apply a grub control product you can lower the population of soil dwelling insects which may encourage the moles and gophers to leave the area. Bayer Advanced Season Long Grub Control, or Grubex are both good products to use to lower the grub population. Be sure to apply according to label directions.
