|Weigela blooms in the late spring/early summer so it's best to wait until after it has flowered to do your pruning. If you're itching to prune it now, you can remove some of the oldest stems down to ground level, leaving the rest to grow and flower later in the season. When the flowers are spent you can prune those branches back. Don't use wound dressing on any of the cuts. It will slow the healing process. Enjoy your weigela!
