I am going to plant some sunflowers from seed. Do you have crack the sunflower seed open before you plant it into the ground ?

No you don't need to crack open the hull of the sunflower seed before planting. In fact, you shouldn't. Just plant the whole seed in the ground and you'll see a sprout emerge in about a week (depending upon soil temperature). Enjoy your sunflowers!
