I have a goldflame honeysuckle that has grown over an arbor. In the past few years it has grown out of control. When is the best time to prune this plant?

Thank you!

Honeysuckle flowers on new growth and if you don't prune it back each spring you'll find most of the flowers develop at the very top of the plant. Prune yours back now to encourage new flowering growth. I usually cut the main stems at random lengths so they develop new growth throughout the vine. You can do some summer pruning, as well so don't be afraid to whack it back if it begins to get out of control in the summertime.
