Atlas cedars are adaptable to full sun, part shade or full shade. I think they grow best when they get at least a few hours of sunshine each day. Since you've just recently planted it, it might be worth your while to dig and transplant it to a sunnier spot. You'll be rewarded with better growth as it matures.
