|What and how do I get rid of bugs that look like clumps of tiny beetles on my chive's plant? When I squish them it looks like red wine (purple).

|Sounds like spider mites to me. It's difficult to suggest controls for insect pests on edible plants. You can try hosing them off the plant with plain water or wiping them off with a damp paper towel, or using insecticidal soap. Be sure to follow label directions. Insecticidal soap will kill the soft bodied mites but the soapy residue can burn the leaves of your plants in strong sunshine. You might try spraying, leaving the compound on the plant for 5-10 minutes and then washing it off with water to get rid of the oily residue. Best wishes with your chives.
