My Brussel Sprouts plants are about 28 inches high. The bottom leaves I removed have tiny sprouts growing. Is this where they grow? Or do the grow at the base of the leaf? Do I pull off the leaves to let the sprouts grow?

Brussels Sprouts plants will grow 2-3 foot stems, and the mini-cabbages will form along the stem, under the foliage. Additional leaves will develop underneath the sprouts. It's okay to remove the leaves below the sprouts to give the sprouts more room to grow, but don't remove the leaves until they turn yellow. You can begin harvesting sprouts from the bottom of the plant up, as they mature. If you pinch off the tops of the plants, it will force the sprouts to mature a little faster. If a heavy frost is expected, pull the entire plant and hang it upside-down in a protected area, and you'll be able to harvest sprouts for a few more weeks.
