During a deck project, lawn was damage (died) from stacking wood on it. What is recommended to get grass growing again?

You might be surprised how well the lawn will recover when it receives sunlight and water. I'd rake away all the dead blades and just give it a week to recover. If it does not green up, get out your rake again and rake the area hard enough to remove the dead grass roots - down to soil level. Sprinkle some compost over the top, work it into the soil and overseed the area. The new grass seed will germinate in 7-10 days and in a few weeks your lawn will look as good as new.
