I had a small dark green leaved spider plantlet in a pot. Yesterday the squirrels seem to have managed to pluck out the clump of leaves above ground level. Will this poor plant survive with merely its intact root system?

Don't you hate it when that happens? As long as the roots are intact, they should send out new stems and foliage. Just give it a little time to recover from the attack and you should see new growth. Best wishes with your plant!
