|Not necessarily true! There are some new hybrids that are thornless - or nearly so. Schoener?s Nutana ? deep pink flowers ? grows to 6 foot, good for poor soils - has a slight fragrance. James Galway ? pink blooms - an English rose - grows to 5 foot - disease resistant ? has a pleasant fragrance. John Clare ? deep crimson flowers ? grows to 3 foot ? has a delicate light fragrance. Mme Legras de St Germain ? creamy white blooms ? grows to 6 foot ? wonderful scent. Cardinal de Richelieu ? rich crimson purple -grows to 6 foot ? has a rich strong fragrance.
