I'd prepare the planting bed by spreading a few inches of compost over the top and digging it into the soil. Level the soil and use one of the pots as a guide to digging holes that are exactly the same size as the pot. Then carefully take the plants out of their pots by laying them sideways in one hand and digging around the sides of the pots with a stick or fork to release the potting soil so you can pull it out with your other hand. Set the whole mass of roots and potting soil into one of the holes you made in the ground, firming the soil around the roots. Make sure that the plant is sitting at the same soil level as it was in the pot. Then water everything well to help settle the soil. Best wishes with your new plants.
