Spiraea blooms on new growth of the season, so it is pruned in late winter or early spring. It's not too late to prune yours back. Cut it back quite hard, by about two thirds or so, to remove all winter damaged stems and to create a symmetrical shape. After the first big flush of blooms, you can shear it all over lightly to deadhead and encourage additional blooming later in the season. Enjoy your spirea!
