|Your new maple tree won't need pruning for another year or two, but when it does, prune it in the late winter while it is still dormant. This way you can see the branch pattern. Remove any branches that are misplaced and shorten others to help the canopy look symmetrical and growing evenly. Enjoy your new tree!
