|I have a large tree that might be dead. How can I tell if it is still alive or will start growing leaves again? Some of the branches are dry and snap off easily. There appears to be others that are green (towards the top). Thanks!

|If the branch is alive you'll find green tissue just beneath the bark. Scrape it with your fingernail. If it has green tissue, it's still alive. If the tissue beneath the bark is brown, that part of the branch is dead. I'd prune off anything dead and hope your tree responds with new growth. Best wishes with your tree.
