We moved 3 yrs ago, and there are cannas on one entire side of the house. I desperately need to thin out, but how do I deadhead?? Do you cut right under the bloom, or farther down in the plant?

For aesthetic purposes you can deadhead by removing the bloom stalks back to the first leaf below the stalk. Now's a great time to dig and divide that bed of cannas.
