Dangers of oleanders? - Knowledgebase Question

I think I will plant some Turner's flirt oleander along my back fence (zone 9). It seems to fit my requirements in terms of height, habit, and all year flowering. Is there anything else I should consider before I go ahead? I know oleanders are poisonous. Will these be a problem with a dog? Thanks!

All parts of oleander shrubs are poisonous if consumed but unless your dog regularly snacks on landscape plants, the oleanders should not cause a problem by being in your yard. Only you know your dog's habits, so choose your shrubs accordingly. I, personally, have never had a problem with my dogs and my oleanders, but your mileage may vary.
