|After sowing the seeds you'll want to water the lawn well to help move the seeds down to soil level. Once they are safely within the blades of grass and touching the soil they will be less likely to dry out and more likely to sprout quickly. Water a little every day to help keep the soil moist (a hand sprinkler should be fine) for about a week. By then the grass seeds will have sprouted and the roots will have grown far enough into the soil that your regular watering practices for your entire lawn will be sufficient for the new grass.
