Spring is the best time to apply fertilizer. When the trees are actively growing they can use the fertilizer. Most flowering trees will be happy with a 10-10-10 and most evergreens can be fed either an 8-8-8 or a 10-10-10. It's important not to feed too much or you'll encourage weak, rank growth. If the growth is adequate and leaf color normal, you don't really need to feed your trees. They will find the nutrients they need in the soil. If they seem to be struggling, a spring feeding can give them a boost. Hope this answers your question.
