I plan to go to HD this weekend for fertilzer and grass seed. My yard gets mostly shade so the grass is pretty sparse. I want to overseed. I have an acre lot and don't want to hand rake the yard to loosen the top of the soil. Is there another solution? Thanks, Jim Nolting |
The grass seeds need to make good contact with the soil. Raking leaves little furrows in the soil where the seeds can get a good start. You can get by with not raking if you water the seeds in well so they are pushed down towards the soil. Most will make good contact and should root. I've seeded both ways (raking or not) and have had good success so I think you will to. Best wishes with your lawn. |
