I need to plant sunflowers in containers. What is the proper size container to use? Thanks. Sally

The hybrid Mexican multi-flowering sunflowers remain small enough to plant in a 5-gallon container but the giant sunflowers, those that grow 6 or more feet tall, will need ample root space. A half whiskey or half wine barrel should be just the right size.
