My boxwood shrubs (2) have areas with no leaves and dead looking branches or empty patches. The 2 boxwoods are not next to each other. Any idea what this is and what I can do?

I can't tell without examining the plants what might have caused the dieback. Boxwoods take pruning well so if they were mine I would trim them back to encourage new growth. With any luck the new growth will fill in the empty spots. Good luck with your boxwoods.
