I live in Missouri where the soil is part clay and is very hard and compacted. In the past I have purchased a white powdered substance (it came in a small bag), from HD that really works breaking up the soil and making it very easy to plant in. It is not gypsum or lime, but I can't remember the name of it. Do you know what I am searching for?

I wonder if you purchased Clay Buster? The description of the product is the same, however it is a mixture of lime and gypsum so it may not be exactly what you purchased in the past. Aside from amending clay soil with compost, gypsum or lime are the only other products that will help loosen clay soil. Sorry I can't of more help.
