In a shady area near the rear of my home a patch of moss has grown on the ground. I was wondering how to kill the moss and am not worried about killing any grass. I will be adding a deck to the rear of the home and the deck will cover this area.

Since you won't be planting there, you can use a moss killer on the patch of moss. It will turn the moss black, but it will kill it. Try Lily-Miller Moss Out. Be sure to follow label directions.
