I have an abundance of hot peppers, and would like to preserve them like I am able to buy in the supermarket. They are in a jar and labeled as crushed hot cherry peppers.

You can dry your hot peppers, then store them whole or crushed. Simply lay the peppers on racks in an airy place until they're crispy dry, or string them together and hang them in an airy place until they're completely dry. Then crush them between sheets of waxed paper or foil using a rolling pin. You can store dried peppers by putting them in a jar and keeping them in a cool, dark location.
