What Shrub or Tree will live well in a very wet location in the Saint Louis Missouri area. Three yards drain to this one location approximately 3' x 6' that we would like something to grow to buffer the fence between us and our neighbor. No Power Lines, No underground Utilites, 40' from the house and anything else other than the fence. We have tried Lilacs there so far at this point with no luck

If the soil remains saturated, you may not be able to get much to grow there. Some plants will tolerate damp soils but not standing water. You might try Abies balsamea (Balsam Fir), Populus tremuloides (Quaking Aspen), Acer rubrum (Red Maple), Salix (Willow) or a shrub such as Pieris, Andromeda (Bog Rosemary), Cornus stolonifera (Shrub Dogwood), Chaenomoles (Flowering Quince) or Viburnum opulus (Snowball Bush). Hope you find just the right plant for the soggy area!
