Some hardy shrubs that grow well in shade include Serviceberry (Amelanchier arborea), Smooth juneberry (Amelanchier laevis), Indigobush; False indigo (Amorpha fruticosa), Black chokeberry (Aronia melanocarpa), Bunchberry (Cornus canadensis), Red-osier dogwood (Cornus stolonifera), Common elderberry (Sambucus canadensis), Red-berried elder (Sambucus pubens) and Nannyberry (Viburnum lentago). These are all native to Wisconsin and will thrive in your climate and soil. Enjoy!
