Is it really possible to grow a minature peach or nectarine tree in one of the 1/2 wine barrel. I read that you could but before I invest in it I want to know if it is really a good idea. Help!!! Thanks Teresa

A half wine or whiskey barrel will provide adequate root room for a dwarf fruit tree so you should be able to successfully grow one. Fill the container with a 50/50 mixture of garden soil (for weight to keep the tree from toppling over) and potting soil (to encourage good drainage and good root penetration). When you feed your containerized tree you'll want to feed lightly so the fertilizer doesn't burn the roots. Best wishes with your new tree!
