tips on pruning arborvitae?

You can lightly shear arborvitaes back once a year to help keep them full and to control their size. The only caution is in cutting back too far. Unlike some conifers, these evergreens will not form new buds on old wood. So if you cut back to the brown, aged stems, it won't grow back. Just prune back lightly and your arborvitae will fill out with new growth this spring. Enjoy!
