Soil Knats - Knowledgebase Question

I bought new Miracle Grow Soil & combined it with old soil,planted a new plant,watered it everyday & plant died & now have knats,& want to plant a new plant & unsure if I should put a new plant in that soil? Help!

I don't think the gnats had anything to do with the death of your plant but since these little pests feed and breed in decomposing organic matter such as potting soil, I'd empty the pot and spread the soil out on newspaper in the sunshine so it can dry out. Any gnat eggs it contains will die. Once the soil has dried out you can re-wet it and use it for a new plant.
