Tomato hornworms are large enough to see easily so you can just pick them off your plants when you see them. An alternative is to use Bt (bacillus thuringensis) which is a bacterium that acts as a stomach poison against caterpillars. They must ingest the product so they will continue to munch until the bacterium takes effect. Bt is the main ingredient in Dipel and Thuricide - both are readily available in garden centers.
