|There are both warm season and cool season grasses. Cool season grasses grow best in the spring and fall months when the weather is cool but they go dormant and brown out during the heat of the summer. Warm season grasses thrive in the hot summer months but go dormant from fall until spring. I suspect that your lawn is mostly cool season grasses and that's why it dies out when summer weather arrives.
