Am looking for a standard to place in middle of flower bed maybe up to 4 feet tall, receives regular watering, part sun. Would like one that flowers for at least half the year.

With only a half day of sunshine you might try a gardenia (Gardenia augusta
'Radicans'), Kurume hybrid azaleas, or a dwarf weigela (Weigela florida 'Elvera' Midnight Wine. Gardenia flowers most of the year but azaleas and weigela flower only once per season.
