Cypress is a natural mulch. It comes from cypress trees and it will decompose slowly but as it does it will provide nutrients for the roots of your plants. Other natural or organic mulches include compost, straw, pine needles, leaf mold, shredded bark, bark nuggets - the list goes on and on. Anything that was once alive is considered a natural or organic mulch material. Hope this clarifies things for you.
