Much of the gardening advice speaks of after the plant, tree, etc. is "well-established." How does one know when a plant is well-established? |
The adjustment period varies from plant to plant, but after transplanting, and until new growth is detected, the plant is said to be in adjustment. For annuals and perennials, this may be days or a few weeks after transplanting. For larger trees or shrubs, it might take a full year for the plant to become well-established. New top growth indicates that the roots are happy in their new homes. Hope this clarifies things for you. |
