I planted a bare root Brown Turkey Fig Tree on March 27,2010. It is now April 12,2010, I amended the soil when I planted it with compost & garden soil and I have kept it watered but it has not produced any sprouts; it still looks like a stick in the ground. I scratched a tiny amount of surface bark off and it looks green underneath the surface bark. Have I just not given it enough time yet?

As soon as the roots establish (another 2-3 weeks) and the soil and air temperatures are just right (according to your fig tree), it will develop leaves and then branches. Once it begins to grow it will make up for lost time. Just be a little more patient with your new fig tree. Enjoy!
