Eliminating English ivy can be difficult. The only way to kill the plant is to remove it, including the roots. If you use a vegetation killer such as Round Up or Brush B Gon, anything else you spray will be killed. You can start by cutting the vines off close to the ground and then painting the stubs with Round Up or Brush B Gon. These products will be transported back to the roots of the plants and kill them off, but expect that new shoots will develop from the underground roots. Use with caution - anything these chemicals touch will be killed. Good luck with your project!
