|We had an especially cold winter for this area, and some of my plants are showing no signs of life: hybiscus, pride of Barbados and Phillipine violets. Should I cut them back or pull them out?

|Sometimes the roots of tender plants will survive and recover but they might be slow in showing growth in the spring. I'd give them another 2-3 weeks. If you still don't see any signs of life, you'll need to dig and replace them. Let's hope for the best!
