Using a forceful stream of plain water does the trick incredibly well. Aphids are very slow movers, so even if they do manage to get back up the plant, they haven't been eating during their journey. If you want to resort to sprays try an insecticidal soap. It kills aphids on contact, but doesn?t leave any toxic residues that could harm the beneficial insects. Insecticidal soaps are safe for food crops. Apply according to label directions.
