My dalia when the flowers die back should I snap the pod off for new growth like you would for geraniums or leave the flower pod?

When the flowers are spent and the petals begin to fall, cut off the flower head along with several inches of stem. Deadheading as each flower fades will encourage more blooms and will keep your plants looking neat and attractive. Best wishes with your dahlias!
