do you prune perennial milkweed? and if so, how? also, what is the appropriate time to divide hosta in regards to years?

After frost kills the tops of your milkweed you can prune it down to ground level. If you didn't do this last fall, you can do it now, in the early spring. Hosta will grow happily without division for 5 or more years, but the longer you leave it growing without division, the harder it will be to dig and divide it. I usually dig and divide mine every 3 years in the early spring.
